Professional Student Organizations

TCI’s professional student organizations provide a chance to get involved in your future profession and career while you earn your degree.
 
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
is the world’s largest professional engineering society.
Student membership includes subscriptions to:

  • Spectrum, the magazine for engineers and technologist
  • Potentials, a magazine for students
  • Institute and Monitor newspapers.

The IEEE Computer Club is a place where interested students can receive tutoring and mentoring in computer-related courses as well as an opportunity for professional development beyond the classroom with courses like advanced BASIC and FORTRAN.

 
  The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) is the leading force for advances in energy technology and environmental control today.

Student members receive:

  • a copy of “Fundamentals Volume” of the ASHRAE Handbook
  • monthly issues of the ASHRAE Journal.
  • invitations to local chapter meetings (a great networking opportunity)
  • an opportunity to enter an annual student paper competition and be eligible for a variety of awards and distinctions.
 

The Building Maintenance and Management Student Association (BMMSA) is a TCI sponsored organization supporting students majoring in Building Maintenance Technology.


  The Electronics Technicians Association (ETA) is a national organization for professionals in electronics technology. Membership in ETA offers:
  • educational and job search services
  • national licensing examination sponsorship
  • participation in a variety of social activities, like the annual TCI Student/Faculty Softball Game!

 

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) encourages women to achieve their full potential in careers as engineers and leaders. The TCI SWE organization provides support for women pursuing degrees in traditionally male-dominated fields through:

  • tutoring and counseling services.
  • educational and social events.
